Key Responsibilities:
- Creating a variety of high-quality and optimized game engine 3D models, including characters, environment assets, and props.
- Experience in rigging and skinning models for animation, both organic and hard surfaces.
- Creating high-quality animations, and complex animations for 3D characters, including facial animations.
- Experience with modern game material workflows, including efficient UV mapping, Substance Painter, Photoshop, and polypainting. Should have prior examples of working in both realistic and stylized art styles.
- Experience using game engines such as Unity and Unreal Engine to build environments, set up prefabs, and materials, and configure and bake lighting.
- Have a strong sense of aesthetics, composition, and storytelling, with the ability to bring concepts to life through visual creativity.
- A good understanding of optimizing assets for games and getting the most out of low-resolution texture maps, and low poly models.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in 3D Animation, Graphic Design, Computer Graphics, Digital media, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a 3D Designer/Animator with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of projects.
- Proficient in 3D modeling and animation software like Blender or 3ds Max.
- Strong understanding of principles of animation, composition, and color theory.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and a passion for creativity.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with particle systems and shader creation in Unity or Unreal using either shader code or node-based editing (such as Shader Graph, Amplify, or Unreal Material Editor).
- Experience working with photogrammetry and Lidar data, and converting and "cleaning" this to create usable game-ready 3D assets.
- Basic scripting knowledge to work with or create tools for better 3D workflows and automation.
- Experience creating 3D renders for video with animated camera rigs, special lighting, and sequenced animations, and then be able to take all this into a video editing software and produce a high-quality deliverable with integrated visual design elements, smooth transitions, and engaging storytelling.
